The truth is that it's complicated. This whole space is new, nothing is 100% certain.
The truth is also, that our photos work extremely well and we know that people who use UnrealPhotos.io are generally not facing issues.
First of all: The dating apps does not have an explicit ban on AI photos. They just want your photos to look real.
Hinge: "AI images should not be used to misrepresent yourself" (source).
Tinder: "Just be you" (source).
Bumble: "celebrate your authentic self" (source).
But it is known that, sometimes, if the dating apps detect obvious AI photos (or more realistically, if people report you) you might get banned.
The way to avoid that is first of all to generate AI photos that look realistic to you. Meaning you should use our site to generate realistic photos of yourself that you like, and perhaps show it to a friend or post it in our Discord if you want.
That's the most important.
Then in terms avoiding the dating apps automatically detecting that the photos are AI generated, we have implemented several counter measures. This includes modifying filename, metadata, photo size, aspect ratio, noise, distortion, chromatic aberration, and more.
This all happens automatically for you.
That's partly how we avoid AI detection as you've seen in the screenshots above on this page.
The sites we test our photos against are publically and freely available, so you can test the photos you generate as well. We link to the sites on the dashboard. But of course we can't know for sure what algorithms the dating apps use.
But I will also say that 2 of the photos I use personally on my profile, are flagged as 99% likely to be AI generated, and I still don't face any issues from the dating apps. So nothing is certain, we're just trying to stay ahead in this 'arms race'.
