Photoshoot AI: What a Real AI Photoshoot Looks Like (My Before and After)

Getting good dating app photos used to mean booking a photographer, picking outfits, finding locations, and paying a thousand or more for a handful of usable shots. A photoshoot AI gets you the same result from a few selfies, in under an hour.
I use UnrealPhotos for my own photos, and I’m going to show you exactly how it works: the crappy photos I started with, the photos I got back, how long it took, and what it cost.
If you’ve wondered whether AI photos can really look like you, this is the proof.
What is an AI photoshoot?
An AI photoshoot uses an image model trained on your face to create new, realistic photos of you in different settings, outfits, and lighting. You upload a set of normal photos, the AI learns what you look like, and then it generates a full shoot: think a rooftop at golden hour, a coffee shop, a beach, or a clean studio headshot, without you going anywhere.
The difference from a filter or a face swap is that the photos are generated from scratch around your likeness, so the pose, background, clothing, and light can all change while still looking like you.
How my AI photoshoot worked, step by step

I uploaded these 3 photos and told UnrealPhotos to make me a dog photo. Here is what it produced in about a minute or less.

Why not just use ChatGPT or Gemini?
It’s the first thing most people try, and it’s free. So we gave the same selfies and the same prompt to general AI tools to see how they compare with UnrealPhotos. This was Gemini.

The problem is it made me uglier. In addition, it added a filter that clearly makes the photo look fake. Here was Higgsfield.

The background blur, combined with the overall design, makes this photo look obviously fake. And finally, here was ChatGPT.

This is better than Higgsfield or Gemini, but the photo still looks a bit fake. Nor do I look that attractive in it.

The best uses for an AI photoshoot
- Dating profiles. This is where AI photoshoots shine. Most people have plenty of selfies but no good full-body or candid-style shots. AI dating photos fill exactly that gap with natural-looking photos for Tinder, Hinge, and Bumble. See real before and after results.
- Social media. A refreshed profile picture or a set of posts without staging a shoot.
- Professional headshots. Clean studio-style photos for LinkedIn or a company site.
